THE EMPRESS OF ASIA - This auction is for a framed painting of the Empress of Asia, which belonged to Canadian Pacific Steamships. It is reverse painted on glass with excellent attention to detail. The port holes and masthead lights are not painted, so when lit from behind it looks like the ship is steaming at night. We tried our best to be able to show this in the images below. This piece was originally in the CPR building in Pentiction, British Columbia. It was in the percer's office on the wharf on Lake Okanagan. The station master there had be a crew member on the Empress of Asia, and he hand painting this outstanding piece of CPR art. He never signed his work.
